Error Code: 0x8020002e while downloading Windows 8.1 Preview
I have a fully updated Windows 8 Pro system at my home using its official launch. Happy with this new operating system . Now as there Microsoft has launched the new 8.1 Preview with Start menu, i was excited to install the same on my system. Went to Microsoft Store, clicked to download Windows 8.1 and the download starts successfully. But as soon as it reaches about 50% of the download, the problem appears. I get an error message with a code 0x8020002e.
I tried downloading the preview thrice but the same error code at the same stage. Any idea what does this error code refers to and what to do to get rid of the same? Many thanks for your helps.
I dont exactly know what could be the reason behind this error code but there are several users around globe received the same error while downloading windows 8.1. Most probably it could be due to premature connection closure. Hence you should try downloading it again after few hours or better next day. As there are millions of users downloading it at the same time, there are possibility to get such issues.
Server problems at Microsoft servers ? Sounds weird. To me it appears like system issue.

Well I was getting that error yesterday as well and its been about 2 days still getting the same error code. So I donít think it could be the sever problem. As far as my system is concerned, it is Windows 8 Pro running on Intel core i7 with 8Gb of RAM.
Any working solution please?
I have been receiving this error code 0x8020002e while downloading Windows 8.1 on my system. After lots of troubleshooting finally I managed to get rid of the system by changing the region. I am not sure whether this will help you or not, but atleast it worked for me. Just check your settings under Control Panel -> Region and see if it set correctly because when you download anything from Microsoft stores, regions matters a lot because it pulls from the respective servers.
Why donít you guys try out the alternate way? Well as far as I know the problem or the error will only occur when you are downloading Windows 8.1 directly from the Store to your existing windows 8 system. Go different way and download the ISO Image directly, burn it to DVD and install.
You will not any error code in this method. Though the process sounds bit time consuming but it is far better than struggling and troubleshooting that error code for over a week.
