Remove write protection from Sandisk Cruzer blade

I have recently bought Sandisk Cruzer Edge 4GB USB and I wanted to know if there is anything by which I can remove the write protection. I am using the same on Windows 7 and when I am deleting any items from it then I am getting a message saying “Drive is write protected”. Is there anyone aware of removing write protection from Sandisk Cruzer Edge and can help me out??? Any help regarding the same will be appreciated.

In that case you can follow the below steps for removing the write protection from your Sandisk Cruzer blade.
    • First turn your system off, Insert your Sandisk Cruzer blade and turn it on and start pressing (F8) key immediately for entering Advanced Boot Options screen.
    • When you get the Advanced Boot Options screen then just Select Safe Mode with Command Prompt and enter the below commands:
      C:\windows\system32>G: and press enter
      G:\>format G: and press enter

Here (G) is the Sandisk Cruzer bladeletter.
    • If you get a prompt saying (Y/N) then press (Y) and hit enter and now the formatting process will get started and write protection will be removed.

Just try out the same and let me know if the issue is getting solved that way. Hope that helps.

Since you are using Sandisk Cruzer Edge flash drive you can try out the below steps as well:
Turn on your system, plug the Sandisk Cruzer bladeflash drive, Right click the icon of your Flash Drive, click on Properties> Sharing tab> permissions and now simply click on Allow next to Full Control and you are done.
Just give it a try and post back if that’s helping.

You can very well try out the solution that have been mentioned above but if that’s not helping then you can try doing it from registry as well.
    • Just go to start menu and open Run and type “regedit” without the quotes and hit enter.
    • Now you will get a new window so just check out for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\StorageDevicePolicies and open “write protect” field and enter 0 (zero) as value.
    • When you are done with the same then simply reboot the system and check if the write protection has been removed.

The simplest of them is using software for formatting such write protected Sandisk Cruzer blade usb flash drives. I have been using the same from a long time and it is capable of formatting all usb drives without any issues.
    • Download this software and unzip it to your desktop in to a folder.
    • Now after downloading the same plug your usb drive to PC and click on start.bat. Which will be in extracted folder.
    • When you do so, the formatting process will get started and will end after sometime. Just make sure that you are not interrupting the task in between. Once the formatting process gets completed you can unplug the drive, reboot your machine and cross whether write protection has been removed or not.
